When Fangirls…Rampage
Jun 18Vanity post! I’ve started a new recurring feature thingy on Great Hera! about fangirl style. I was quite inspired by all of the amazingly creative fanfashion I saw at Wizard World L.A. earlier this year. Oh, and by the way? When I say “cool t-shirts,” two of the coolest t-shirts that I happen to own were made by our very own Chris Stewart. Chris knows how to do t-shirts for all fantypes, you guys.
My first Fangirl Fashionista is lovely Lauren Perry, who writes the Fangirl Rampage column for Buzzscope, which I’ve mentioned here before. Check out her Chewbacca backpack.
Lauren and I actually ended up doing a totally awesome CROSS-INTERVIEW, so guess what? I am the Fangirl Rampaging this week! Look at me as a Jenny Sparksian comic book character!!
And yes, I’ve already thought of a bunch of favorites I left off the various favorites lists, but oh well. One note: I mentioned my “super-geek, guitar hero, champ husband,” but that is actually supposed to be “Guitar Hero champ husband.” He’s definitely a Guitar Hero as opposed to a guitar hero, if you know what I mean.
52 Or Shatner: Week 6
Jun 16Wherein you get either some babbling about DC’s series 52, or a picture of Shatner.
But not both! No, not anymore! For we must learn the value of being denied that which we want so badly!
Which is it this week? Click on and find out, yo.
Watch carefully
Jun 15Have you seen the Apocalypto trailer? I mean, really seen it? There is, for lack of a better term, an Easter Egg. Ha ha. Mel Gibson’s a Catholic – that just occured to me. Easter Egg. That’s funny.
Normally, I’d give credit to the blog that first mentioned this, but considering I’m hearing about this third hand, verbally, no one knows who I should credit. So, if you run into a blog that mentions this same thing, let’s just say I got it from them.
Carry on, intrepid trailer watcher. I’m about to spoil the surprise, by the way. Fair warning.
When fangirls attack… with book learnin'.
Jun 14It’s a small CNN cameo, but as someone who has followed Amy’s progress as she plowed through a decade of higher learning, it’s pretty darn cool.
If there’s one person you don’t want to get into an argument about comics with, It’s Amy. I can hold my own because I know more of the lore and trivia, but she’s got the brains, training, and fearless nature to tear lesser people apart for their bad ideas. Fortunately her and I argue comics rarely – usually she just reads my stash. I’m proud to be part of her extended library.
If anyone ever needs a ringer to take Erik Larsen or Frank Miller to town, keep Amy (soon to be Dr. Pederson) in mind.
