May 24In all the Indy 4 hooplah, one commemoration has been forgotten: the silver anniversary of Return of the Jedi.
Yep-25 years.
I plan to spin up my bootleg copy of the original laserdisc. Thus will I celebrate my birth as a geek.
A small admission – I didn’t get to see a Star Wars film in a theater (which is regarded as critical to falling in love with the films) until RotJ. And to show just how powerful the movie is, I still remember we were a few minutes late, and walked in as the droids were approaching Jabba’s palace. After all these years, Star Wars for me didn’t start with a text crawl, but with two robots in the desert (which is appropirate, somehow.)
