Jun 28Today, I drop my comics pull list.
Completely.
I’m off the smack. I’m on the wagon. I’m out.
Money’s a big factor–I’ve been spending way too much on bullshit–but there’s also the huge pile of stuff I’ve bought and haven’t read yet, and the fact that much of what both DC and Marvel are putting out is kinda annoying me, and the whole “wait for the trade” phenomenon, which given my reading pace, makes a whole lot more sense for me.
I’ll be back, I’m sure. Maybe sooner, maybe later. And trust me–I will have PLENTY to read so I’ll be consuming comics for some time to come.
I just won’t wait for Wednesdays anymore.
EDIT: See? I can’t even maintain resolve for a few hours. I just tried cutting it WAY down instead. We’ll see if I can pull that off.
EDIT 2 (6/29/07): Okay, back to reality. My pull list is dead. Long live my pull list.

What did you end up cutting it down to? I was initially thinking of still picking up a few titles on a monthly basis and trade paperbacking everything else. But that’s sort of tough to maintain — either you go the shop every Wed or you don’t. And then there’s all sorts of temptation with new titles if you do go to the shop every Wednesday. 🙂

The list I had was down to about 16 titles–a few miniseries that I knew would die eventually, a few sentimental favorites, a few I’m genuinely excited about (the Green Lantern books).
Mostly it was the big ones–batman, superman, fantastic four. I tend to put those titles into the column of “if I’m buying comics, I will buy these always,” since they’ve been going for like seventy years and owning all the “trades” of, say, Detective Comics will never happen in my lifetime.
And just when I thought I had geekdom down, I had to Google “pull list” to find out what it was. Thanks Matt for continuing to expand my knowledge.
Oh man – there’s a Wiki entry for “pull list.” I’m adding it, Matt! You can’t stop me!
Thanks Chris. Man, I gotta remember to start doing that Wiki thing…it’s cool. I wish I was smart enough to write some kind of script or to modify wordpress somehow to automate that process.
