Mar 19All right, so hopefully Emma Watson is coming back for the last two Harry Potter films. Re-casting her this late in the game would be jarring and weird, for sure. What I find most sad about the tabloid-y newsbit (referenced here) that started the whole ruckus, however, is that little Rupert Grint says he and Danny R. are currently “distant” from Emma and that they “don’t text or talk to her” when they’re not filming. Awww! In the language of Kids Today, isn’t not texting the equivalent of declaring someone dead to you? So sad!
Also, the TV Guide bit contains a reference to getting “a Gyllenhaal,” which I guess is now code for re-casting. By the way, I’m thrilled at the idea of Maggie playing opposite Christian Bale, but it’s kind of weird that she’s reportedly the same character as Kate Cruise. I always assumed they’d just make that a different character.
