A few more thoughts and some speculation. I just can’t get enough. It’s all still SPOILERY if you haven’t seen “Maelstrom.”

What I find rather fascinating and hilarious about this whole shebang is how jaded the TV-watching internets community has become. I remember when Buffy “died” I got SO MANY fucking emails. SO MANY! From fans who were freaked out that she was actually dead. Some even went so far as to speculate that the whole moving-to-UPN thing was some sort of massive foiler cooked up by Joss and the show was actually over. This seemed nutty to me, given that it was a genre show and people come back to life in genre work all the time. Maybe it was that ominous gravestone that gave it such an air of finality? Anyway, this time around, NO ONE believes that Starbuck is really dead. Not even after listening to Ron Moore’s podcast or hearing Katee’s NBC pilot news. Everyone is fairly confident she’ll be back. Perhaps they should have given her a gravestone? “Kara Thrace…Beloved Adulterer, Devoted Viper Pilot. She liked to drink a lot.”

Anyway. Another thing that gives me hope: remember that wrap party reel Chris posted? Three/Lucy Lawless gets a whole good-bye montage, but Kara really doesn’t. Right?

I’ve also heard so many good theories as to what Starbuck’s true nature is and how she will return. One, from my pal Nicole K., hinges on two things: the fact that we didn’t see Kara’s father in the flashbacks and the fact that her mom served in the military during the first Cylon war. I’ll let you figure it out.
