Oh, the good ol' days…

Oh, the good ol' days…

…when major comic events were short! And on time!

Apparently Marvel and DC have been scaling the scope of their event arcs to match my income bracket, the bastards.

Mutant Massacre

Things to note;
– Power Pack wasn’t available at the 7-11. Comic shops only.
– It somehow made sense to include Thor in a mutant storyline. Power Pack made a little sense – I think Franklin Richards, a mutant, was in the team at that time. But Thor? Were they trying to increase readership before the title died… again?
– What did happen to Angel? A lot of shit happens to Angel in nearly every event series. Oh, I remember – he lost his wings didn’t he?
– The New Mutants. They got Cypher killed. So, he was massacred, but just not entirely in the normal flow of things. Magneto was very mad at them. And the stupid bird character was left on an island. I fear they shall one day return.
– If I recall correctly, this set up both the Inferno storyline and Age of Apocalypse arcs. Which is probably why there is no “End Here” marker. It should have just read, “Save your money, suckers! There’s more to come!”

  1. Actually they killed off Cypher in the next crossover, Fall of the Mutants. Inferno was actually Claremont trying to make a crossover so convoluted and confusing that Marvel wouldn’t make him do any more.
