Breaking: Civil War Is Not That Bad

Breaking: Civil War Is Not That Bad

Feb 07

I’ve been reading a lot of the reactions to Civil War online, for months and months now, because I’m just THAT kind of guy–the kind who trolls around the web looking to read about things I’ve read. Compulsively All the goddamned time.

These opinions, these words various have typed, various whom I do not disrespect at all and who in some cases I quite enjoy–these words rub me. They chafe me. They task me, to paraphrase Khan.

I just don’t think it’s that bad. In fact, I’ll jump off this deep end, even if I swim here alone and no one ever notices me flailing about in the dark murky water: I still LIKE Civil War.

In other words, it. Does. Not. Suck.

So says Blog@Newsarama.

This, taken together with the Whedon news below, means that there can be NOTHING good afoot within the hallow-less halls of Warner Brothers’ film division.

Marvel: Hire a bunch of geeky, gifted auteurs; let them make their movies; rake in cash.

DC/Warners: Hire one or two geeky, gifted auteurs; let them make their movies; rake in some cash, but apparently not enough; freak out and fuck everything up.

For whatever reason, Warner Brothers has bought a World War 2 based Wonder Woman movie, scripted by a freshly minted background actor and a personal assistant on the set of Beerfest.

Whedon confirms he’s off the movie as writer/director. And yet again, we can blame Joel Silver (even if he isn’t planning to direct.)

DC should pull a Blue Beetle on that guy. Don’t worry, he won’t know what that means.

This whole Boston Aqua Teen Hunger Force thing just pisses me OFF.

1) Why the FUCK are they arresting the lowly freelancers hired to execute this marketing campaign??? First off, arrest the COMPANY that was HIRED to do it. The cushy CEO in his or her big-ass office, preferably. THEN arrest the exec at TBS that approved it. THEN arrest the CEO of TBS, for allowing this to happen. But the freelance artists? Come ON. That just SUCKS and smacks of stupidity.

2) Did NO ONE in the fucking POLICE DEPARTMENT think to do ANY research before shutting down the fucking CITY?! Again: Come ON. It displays blinking lights of a cartoon character FLIPPING YOU THE BIRD. Is there ANY precedent for this level of wackiness in past terrorist activities? Aren’t they too busy, y’know, actually BLOWING SHIT UP to bother with funny logos?

3) This is not, as the Mayor of Boston has said, about “corporate greed.” This is about IDIOTS at the Boston Police Department and in Boston city government making a HUGE mistake and seeking scapegoats. As already pointed out, these scapegoats are FREELANCE ARTISTS.

Goddamnit, I hate America.
