Sep 16Bill Shatner chimes in via his website’s e-mail list (you know, the one that pimps signed photos of Sid Ceasar and direct-to-dvd “specials” starring former cast members of Big Brother?) about the next Trek film:
“There are lots of underground rumblings about STAR TREK. Some of it is burbling, some of it is barely noticeable. I know nothing except that where’s there’s rumblings, there’s gas and in this case, the gas is coming from JJ Abrams and none of it seems to be directed in my direction. If any gas comes my way, I will post it immediately and you all will know. Until then, hold your breath–because this gas is odiferous.”
WOW. Billy Shatner calling out J.J. Abrams. THIS is Classic Trek–the bitchy Shatner diva coming out to claw out poor JJ’s eyes. Where’s Takei when you need him?

Well, according to Scifi.com, Abrams has been in touch with Leonard Nimoy about being in the movie with Shatner, possibly as a set up for a flashback to their years at Starfleet Academy. Maybe Abrams just doesn’t have Shatner’s number.
