Oh, Shat.
Sep 16Bill Shatner chimes in via his website’s e-mail list (you know, the one that pimps signed photos of Sid Ceasar and direct-to-dvd “specials” starring former cast members of Big Brother?) about the next Trek film:
“There are lots of underground rumblings about STAR TREK. Some of it is burbling, some of it is barely noticeable. I know nothing except that where’s there’s rumblings, there’s gas and in this case, the gas is coming from JJ Abrams and none of it seems to be directed in my direction. If any gas comes my way, I will post it immediately and you all will know. Until then, hold your breath–because this gas is odiferous.”
WOW. Billy Shatner calling out J.J. Abrams. THIS is Classic Trek–the bitchy Shatner diva coming out to claw out poor JJ’s eyes. Where’s Takei when you need him?
Happy 40th anniversary!
We have Wii.
Sep 15We’re sorta late to the party on this (not that we even think y’all come RUNNING to AN for NEWS or some shit, or honestly, that you run to AN period. We prefer to imagine you walking with head held high, at a pace that spouts confidence) but for what it’s worth: The deets about the Nintendo Wii are out.
Oh, gosh, what do I THINK?! Lil’ ol’ ME?
I’m slightly underwhelmed by the price point. Nintendo kept saying cheap, and they’re selling big ol’ hootenanny fun family gaming here, yet there’s only one controller in the box, and so you’re really looking at at least $325 if you want the system and two controllers to actually PLAY games against Grandma. Otherwise, Grandma stands around and watches you play all Christmas morning, and we all know how fun THAT can be.
In other words, I may sit this one out till the inevitable price drop mid- to late 2007, or in response to the PS3, whichever comes first.
On my list…
Sep 15…of “Stars I’d Love To See On the Shitty Star Wars TV Series, Which I Will Still Watch Anyway, Because I Am A Pathetic Fanboy For Lucas And His Bullshit,” Edward Furlong didn’t even make the cut.

Sep 14OK, so who here is double-dipping (or, for those of us who were around when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and VHS ruled the home entertainment system, triple or quadruple-dipping) on Star Wars?
Honestly? Probably me.
The customer reviews in that Amazon link are pretty hilarious. Most are of the “Fuck you, Lucas…I still bought it” variety. Also, amongst the user-generated tags, which include “science fiction” and “family movies”: “its a rip off.”
