Then go to this website and make a note of July 8th – also, try and find children to take with you.

I’ve seen the pilot episode of YoGabbaGabba (more on that later) – it’s awesome. And I’m thirty-something (fuck you, Timothy Busfield). I can only imagine that a little kid will go mental for it.

As the show is still being shopped around, it’s hard to say where and when most of the world will get to see it, but if you’re in LA, you’ve not only got a chance to see it, but there will be swag as well.

You lucky ducks.

Have you seen the Apocalypto trailer? I mean, really seen it? There is, for lack of a better term, an Easter Egg. Ha ha. Mel Gibson’s a Catholic – that just occured to me. Easter Egg. That’s funny.

Normally, I’d give credit to the blog that first mentioned this, but considering I’m hearing about this third hand, verbally, no one knows who I should credit. So, if you run into a blog that mentions this same thing, let’s just say I got it from them.

Carry on, intrepid trailer watcher. I’m about to spoil the surprise, by the way. Fair warning.

It’s a small CNN cameo, but as someone who has followed Amy’s progress as she plowed through a decade of higher learning, it’s pretty darn cool.

If there’s one person you don’t want to get into an argument about comics with, It’s Amy. I can hold my own because I know more of the lore and trivia, but she’s got the brains, training, and fearless nature to tear lesser people apart for their bad ideas. Fortunately her and I argue comics rarely – usually she just reads my stash. I’m proud to be part of her extended library.

If anyone ever needs a ringer to take Erik Larsen or Frank Miller to town, keep Amy (soon to be Dr. Pederson) in mind.

No disintegrations!

Vancouver has this new, spruce up the city plan. Actually, they have several each year, which tends to keep a lot of local artists employeed, so that’s nice. They did something similar a couple of years back, only it was Orca whales – various parts around the city sponsored a whale and an artist would paint it to reflect the area. Most were so-so, but Bell Canada painted theirs to look like it was made of pixels and the library made theirs into a bookshelf, complete with fake, fiberglass books.

This year, it’s spirit bears (or, as everyone assumes, polar bears – cuz that’s what they look like.) The one outside HMV takes the My Fav award, for obvious reasons. And you can hardly tell it’s a bear. One might say, you can barely tell. har har.

I’m a print nerd too. All of us here are nerds of many things and given enough time it will all come out. I worked at a student newspaper for many a year, which is where I got my first taste of just how cool it is to publish something. This was the proto-digital era, meaning the text got laid-out on computer, but that was printed out and arranged with seperate elements not on the computer (like ads and photos) on a card, slightly bigger than the size of the final page. Actual physical contact*.
