[What’s a Conecdote?\u00c2\u00a0 It’s an anecdote…from a con.\u00c2\u00a0 Duh.]<\/em><\/p>\n

So I’m at dinner in Hell’s Kitchen on Friday night with about eight other people.\u00c2\u00a0 We’re all talking comics, and someone utters the ‘F’ word: Final Crisis.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m suddenly the only person in the room defending the book and getting piled on by everyone, including maybe the waiter.\u00c2\u00a0 “It was ambitious, if flawed, and it has some really amazing moments,” I protest, but nobody wants to hear it.\u00c2\u00a0 The counterpoints stack like Tetris blocks and I am finally broken.\u00c2\u00a0 And it is this that broke me:<\/p>\n

“‘Darkseid always hated music’?\u00c2\u00a0 What?\u00c2\u00a0 Where was that established?\u00c2\u00a0 What issue did that happen in? Because I think that Morrison just made that shit up.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tom Brevoort frequently talks about how it’s better for continuity to serve the story than for the story to serve continuity, and this is a prime example.<\/p>\n

A few arguments and\/or possibilities:<\/p>\n

1. He’s Darkseid.\u00c2\u00a0 Why would he LIKE music?
\n2. Pied Piper.\u00c2\u00a0 Countdown.\u00c2\u00a0 Just saying
\n3. Darkseid not actually Dick Turpin, but actually John Lithgow from Footloose.\u00c2\u00a0 No, wait.\u00c2\u00a0 That’s dancing.\u00c2\u00a0 How great would it have been if Superman beat him with the power of dancing?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
